Canberra's urban forest comprises a diverse combination of evergreen and deciduous trees that provides important ecological and amenity advantages for its inhabitants and wildlife. Urban Treescapesmanages and maintains more than 846,000 trees on parklands and streets throughout ACT. Specific responsibilities include the planting, watering, and follow up maintenance of newly planted trees; the maintenance of established trees; the removal of dead and dying trees; the administration of the Urban Forest Act 2023; the assessment of tree related claims; and the provision of technical advice on tree related matters.
The Operations Support Officer provides business and operational support for the Operations unit of Urban Treescapes including administration, customer service, and data systems management in accordance with the Directorate's policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures to achieve corporate objectives.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
* Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
* Driver's licence C is essential.
* Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain would be highly desirable; General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
* Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation would be highly desirable before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
* Silica Training (Crystalline Silica Exposure – 10830NAT) or a willingness to obtain would be highly desirable.
* This position requires a National Police Check prior to commencement.
* This position does require a pre-employment medical.
* Preparedness to wear a uniform.
* Be prepared to work anywhere in the ACT.
* Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the tasks listed in the Position Description.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position is based within a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers do not have a designated workstation/desk and may also be required to work from field service depots located across Canberra.
