About the Role

We are seeking a Station Chemist to join our team at Genuity Services Pty Ltd in Millmerran, Queensland. Reporting to the External Resources Manager, you will play a crucial role in providing chemical and environmental services and support for the Operation of the Power Station.

This will include carrying out specific investigations of a technical nature, recommending changes to improve plant and process performance and efficiency, providing specialist technical support as requested and recommending changes to continuously improve the operational standards.

The Station Chemist will ensure that statutory standards, company policies and procedures are followed, particularly those standards, policies and procedures that relate to safety, environment and plant chemistry.

Collaborating with the External Resources team, other operational departments at Millmerran, and third-party contractors and consultants, you will provide technical insights and recommendations and adhere to all relevant safety, environmental, and quality control protocols whilst continuously improving laboratory processes and contributing to the development of new analytical methods.

Whilst the role is predominantly based at our Millmerran facility, this role may allow for hybrid working if you live in surrounding areas to Millmerran.

As we are dedicated to providing "Energy For Life" to our growing family of employees at Genuity and Millmerran respectively, this ad is primarily focused on finding an experienced Station Chemist.

However, please don't hesitate to apply if you are a recent graduate with a minimum of Bachelor of Science or Engineering specialising in an applied chemistry, chemistry or chemistry-related field.

Additionally, if you are experienced professional who possesses the majority of our requirements below and is looking to progress into a formal Station Chemist position, we can provide on-the-job training for the right candidate.

For all applicants, the successful candidate will be provided with a remuneration package within our salary banding that is reflective of what they bring to our team, ranging from graduate, through to experienced professional and experienced Station Chemist respectively.

About the Responsibilities

* Monitor, and take appropriate action, to ensure that the Unit Chemistry and Water Treatment Plant respectively are kept within best practice standards for supercritical boiler and turbine plant along with the power station overall
* Manage contractors and consultants used in Unit Chemistry and Water Treatment Plant issues
* Operate and coordinate the water treatment system effectively to the set standards, actively looking at minimising operational costs by monitoring, fault finding, reporting, and take corrective action
* Work closely with the Operations Coordinator and the Operations Engineer to ensure that the plant is operating at its optimum for the conditions at the time
* Complete plant routine inspections and tests and design and implement systems to audit plant process performance so variances from standards can be highlighted
* Provide support for the management of hazardous chemicals, including preparation of hazardous chemical risk assessments
* Manage the laboratory and laboratory services and contracts, ensuring systems of work and procedures are safe and effective and the chemical analysis database records are maintained and reported on to internal and external parties as required.

What We're Ideally Looking For

* Tertiary Qualifications (Degree) in Science or Engineering specialising in applied chemistry, chemistry, or chemical engineering field
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a Station Chemist or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry with experience in a power station plant
* Demonstrated experience in power station chemical operations and practices, with a working knowledge of laboratory techniques and water treatment plant processes.
* Ability to plan and schedule chemical plant operation, to read and understand technical drawings and technical manuals, and solve operational problems respectively
* Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and data analysis software
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
* Thorough understanding of relevant safety, environmental, and quality control regulations
* Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
* Supercritical plant operation experience.
* Background of Environmental management of power station operation.
* Knowledge of characteristics of Coal and Diesel used in power stations, and the characteristics of Ash produced by coal fired power stations.
* Experience in operation Water treatment membrane systems experience Ultra filtration, Reverse Osmosis and Electro Deionization, and ion exchange.
* Formal Training in industrial radiation safety.
