About the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority
The Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) is the custodian of some of Australia's most profound cultural landscapes, recognised for their global heritage value. Established to preserve and protect Port Arthur, PAHSMA also manages the Coal Mines Historic Site and Cascades Female Factory, forming part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Australian Convict Sites.
PAHSMA connects people with this complex history to inspire understanding, deepen engagement, and shape appreciation of the past for future generations. Its mission is to lead in conserving, creating and sharing these extraordinary places while delivering cultural, social, environmental and economic benefits.
As a statutory authority and Government Business Enterprise, PAHSMA balances world‐class conservation with sustainable tourism and visitor experience.
