Job Description
The Victorian Ombudsman is responsible for ensuring the public sector delivers fair and reasonable services, aligned with the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act.
We seek an experienced Managing Principal Solicitor to lead our in-house legal team, providing expert advice on administrative law principles.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leading the delivery of outcomes-focused expert legal advice
* Ensuring the VO complies with its obligations under the Act
* Collaborating with Investigators, Complaints Officers, and colleagues in the Legal Team
* Consulting with stakeholders, drafting correspondence and court documents
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will require:
* Strong statutory interpretation skills
* Knowledge of administrative law and decision-making in the Victorian Ombudsman Office
* Cultural and political awareness
* Demonstrated expertise in building trust and establishing constructive relationships at all levels within the organisation
