Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for multiple Chefs to join us in a permanent, part-time roles. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually. Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits! What you’ll be doing As a Cook at Mater Springfield, you’ll play a key role in preparing and presenting high-quality meals across all meal periods, supporting the smooth operation of our kitchen. You’ll ensure food safety, consistency, and efficiency while working as part of a dedicated team that delivers nutritious meals to patients and guests. In this role, you will: Prepare and present hot and cold dishes for patients and buffets to a high standard Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and cooking methods to maintain quality Support stock control, labelling, and food safety procedures to minimise waste Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic work area, using cleaning products correctly Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working order and report faults promptly Adhere to Mater’s Food Safety Plan and workplace health and safety guidelines Work collaboratively to meet service timeframes and performance targets About you You’re a qualified cook with a passion for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. You take pride in maintaining food safety standards and consistency across all aspects of meal service. You will have: Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Trade Chef qualification Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (within the last 5 years) Experience in a healthcare or similar high-volume kitchen (minimum 3 years) Strong understanding of HACCP principles and cook/chill processes Ability to read and follow recipes accurately and work to tight timeframes Effective communication and teamwork skills with a focus on quality and safety Why join us?
