Job Description: (Sleepovers 3 times per week starting 6pm-7:30am)
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced female disability support worker (participant's choice) with a strong background in managing behaviours of concern to join our dynamic team. As a disability support worker, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality support to individuals with disabilities, fostering their independence, and promoting their well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including their homes, community centers, and educational institutions.
* Assist clients with daily activities, meal preparations, and household chores, while promoting independence and dignity.
* Develop and implement individualised support plans tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.
* Utilise effective behaviour management techniques to address and deescalate challenging behaviours, ensuring the safety and well-being of both clients and support staff.
* Foster positive relationships with clients, their families, and other support professionals to ensure holistic and collaborative care.
* Maintain accurate documentation and records of client progress, incidents, and the support provided in compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in disability support and behaviour management.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Disability Support Worker or in a related role, preferably with a focus on behavior management.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively manage challenging behaviors in a calm and respectful manner, utilizing evidence-based techniques and strategies.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with individuals with disabilities and their families.
* Compassionate and empathetic approach towards supporting individuals with disabilities, recognizing their unique strengths and challenges.
* Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or a relevant qualification is highly desirable.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).
