The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Review Officer to provide a critical role within System Performance Branch.
About The Business Unit
Corrections Victoria is part of the Corrections and Justice Services group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Corrections Victoria operates Victoria's adult custodial corrections system. Its vision is for Safer Prisons, Safer People, Safer Communities. The System Performance Branch in Custodial Operations comprises three teams: Operational Assurance, Compliance and Reviews; Continuous Improvement; and Statewide Operational Support. The branch provides authoritative, strategic, operational and policy advice and briefing papers on a range of correctional issues to senior correctional management and is responsible for state-wide oversight of A Safer Places to Work, operational policy development, review and amendment, convening state-wide managers' meetings, performance monitoring and reporting, incident reporting, responding to family violence information sharing requests, oversight of internal and external reviews and investigations, coordination of Corrections Victoria's responses to coronial matters and litigation, auditing, correspondence, prison outreach and implementation support and general advice to prisons and other departmental staff and internal and external stakeholders.
Role Responsibilities
* Contribute to conducting the annual prisoner pay review and prepare the brief for the Secretary of the Department.
* Support the Senior Review Officer in managing prison-related reviews and investigations. This includes tracking the implementation of review recommendations, participating in reviews, preparing responses to senior department staff and key stakeholders, preparing the monthly restitution report, analysing data to identify emerging issues and trends, and conducting audits to better understand operational performance.
* Liaise with key stakeholders such as the Victorian Ombudsman's office, Victoria Police and the Justice Assurance and Review Office.
* Provide authoritative advice and support to prison staff.
* Prepare complex correspondence, ministerial replies and briefings on a wide range of prison-related matters.
While the position is based at 121 Exhibition Street Melbourne, flexible work arrangements are available and you will be required to travel to other locations based on business needs.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent knowledge and understanding of CV's prison operations, policies and procedures.
Qualifications / Requirements
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role; however a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline would be highly desirable.
