Position Information


Bonnyrigg High School is a partially selective, co-educational school in South Western Sydney on the land of the Cabrogal clan of the Dharug nation. The school has an enrolment of approximately 1650 students, including 98% from a non-English speaking background and 2% Aboriginal students. Bonnyrigg High School is a high performing school with a strong learning culture and high expectations of students. The school has exemplary student wellbeing programs and a relentless focus on explicit teaching. School priorities for the next four years have been developed through extensive consultation with the students, staff and community. The Teacher Librarian is responsible for maintaining a vibrant, inclusive, and well-resourced library that functions as a flexible learning environment. The role promotes student engagement and wellbeing through inclusive practices that support learners from diverse backgrounds. The Teacher Librarian curates a broad range of print and digital resources aligned with curriculum goals and student interests, ensuring equitable access for all. The Teacher Librarian empowers students to become independent and ethical users of information. The role also involves promoting whole school literacy initiatives that elevate the library's role as a central learning hub to support student-driven learning. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents/carers, and the broader community.


Selection Criteria


1. Approval to teach Library (Secondary) or currently enrolled in Library (Secondary) qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

2. Well-developed skills in managing student behaviour, engagement and wellbeing, with a proven capacity to support students from diverse backgrounds.

3. Capacity to implement a creative and flexible approach to managing a library that also functions as a learning hub to support whole school literacy initiatives.

4. Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team to build positive and authentic relationships with students, staff, parents/carers, and the wider community.


Conditions


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.


Special Notes


Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian (Secondary) qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
