About The Role:
This organisation is looking for an experienced APS6 -EL1 Template and Precedent Developer to support a fast‑paced, high‑impact project within a government environment. This role requires advanced technical capability, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to deliver polished and consistent document solutions.
Level/Classification: APS6 -EL1
Contract Type: Non-Ongoing
Contract Duration: 6 Months (extension tbc)
Location: Canberra, ACT – Different Locations will be considered
Requirements:
* MUST have a minimum Baseline Security Clearance held prior to commencement
* Ability and willingness to Undergo Police Check

Key Responsibilities
* Develop, refine and maintain Microsoft Word templates using styles, ribbons and advanced formatting
* Create, update and troubleshoot VBA macros to enhance template functionality
* Build and modify custom UI XML files to support tailored user interactions
* Apply a consistent style guide or equivalent conventions across all templates and precedents
* Lead engagement with multidisciplinary working groups to gather requirements and provide expert guidance
* Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on design, usability and documentation standards
* Coordinate inputs, feedback, and iterative improvements throughout the development lifecycle
* Contribute to the development of precedents and process‑aligned documentation
Experience & Skills Required
* Advanced Microsoft Office expertise, particularly in:
o Microsoft Word (styles, ribbons, templates)
o VBA macro development
* Strong understanding of custom UI XML files
* Proven ability to apply and maintain style guides in document and template creation
* Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate engagement with diverse working groups
* Experience in template and/or precedent development
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Desirable: familiarity with legal templates, legal workflows, or criminal procedure environments
