We are now seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our team as a resourceful and dynamic Waste Technical Officer In this role, you'll be ensuring we meet all legislative, contractual, and customer service obligations while providing top-notch commercial and domestic kerbside collection, recycling, and verge side collections.

**As our Waste Technical Officer, you will be responsible for**:
- Providing specialist technical advice and support on waste, resource recovery, circular economy and other related matters as required.
- Developing and implementing waste minimisation and resource recovery initiatives.
- Business development of the commercial business unit including the implementation of a FOGO commercial service.
- Identifying and recommending strategies to improve development and growth of the commercial services.
- Supporting with the implementation stage of the City's proposed pre-booked verge collection service.
- Assisting in updating the City's Waste Plan compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
- In conjunction with City's Waste Education Officer, assist with the development and coordination of waste education programs.
**To be successful in this role, you will possess**:
- Tertiary qualification in Business or equivalent or degree in Environmental Science or other relevant degree-level qualification, and/or significant relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to foster and develop effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Provision of operational, technical, environmental & compliance expertise/support in all aspects of waste management service provision.
- Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to solve unusual problems using research, analysis, and innovation.
- Excellent customer service skills including written, telephone and personal communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current 'C' Class Drivers License.
- White Card or ability to obtain.
- Qualification in asset management.
- Qualification in project management.
- Sound computing knowledge and skills in Word and spreadsheet programmes, preferably MS suite and Adobe suite.
- Effective time management and organisational skills, with ability to prioritise workload.
