Summit Homes Group is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Trainee Estimator to join our dynamic New Homes Estimating team. This is a unique opportunity to learn the full spectrum of residential construction estimating, from prestart variations through to contracts and siteworks, in a structured, supportive environment.
Working closely with senior estimators, you'll receive tailored training while contributing to real projects. As your skills grow, so will your responsibility giving you a clear pathway into a rewarding estimating career.
Key responsibilities include:
Prepare prestart, administration, and on-site variation costings
Assist with sales, contract, and siteworks estimates under guidance
Maintain accurate cost records, supplier pricing and documentation
Liaise with internal teams (sales, drafting, construction)
Flag cost discrepancies and assist with continuous process improvements
Complete training in estimating systems, Excel, and construction codes
About You
You're curious, methodical, and excited to launch a career in residential construction estimating. Whether you're new to the industry or bringing related admin or technical skills, your focus on accuracy, willingness to learn, and team-first attitude will make you a valued contributor from day one.
You'll bring:
Strong numerical aptitude and high attention to detail
Basic understanding of residential construction or HIA contracts (or willingness to learn fast)
Strong organisational and time management skills
Clear written and verbal communication
