Manager, Tourism Policy and Research * Salary: $138,631 - $185,518 (Plus superannuation) * Ongoing position * Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) * Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available) The Role The Manager, Tourism Policy and Research leads a high-performing team in the Tourism, Events and Entities branch. The role is responsible for delivering policy advice and working collaboratively with Visit Victoria to deliver research insights that supports the strategic development and sustainability of Victoria's visitor economy. This is a challenging and dynamic role, where you utilise your persuasive writing and presentation skills, policy and strategic planning skills and excellent leadership skill to oversee the development of evidence-based visitor economy related policy and program advice. The role works closely with government partners, industry stakeholders, and research organisations including Tourism Research Australia and Visit Victoria on the ongoing implementation on Victoria's tourism research program and lead and contribute to tourism strategy and policy development and stakeholder engagement. Key accountabilities include: * Strategically lead and manage a team to identify new and emerging strategic issues affecting the Victorian economy and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes. * Collaborate with key partners to develop and disseminate key tourism research and insights at State-wide and regional levels and manage a range of ongoing and individual research projects on issues affecting the Victorian visitor economy. * Effectively manage resourcing and staff to provide timely and quality policy advice and insights on visitor economy issues and respond to government priorities relating to the visitor economy. The Team The position of Manager, Tourism Policy and Research will work within Tourism, Events and Entities branch, which sits within Sport and Experience Economy group. The Sport and Experience Economy Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism and events and outdoor recreation – sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage. About You The successful candidate should ideally have the following skills and experience: * Strong public policy expertise: Demonstrated familiarity with contemporary policy challenges across the Department's portfolio areas, as well as proven experience contributing to policy development and/or implementation in a State or Commonwealth public service setting. * Analytical ability and conceptual thinking: Strong quantitative, qualitative and economic data interpretation skills, including experience in research design, statistical methods and analysis and reporting. * Strategic Implementation: Expertise in strategic and complex planning, considers the ramifications of issues and long-term impact of work being done in organisation's current and future role and thinks at the big picture level.
