About the role
We are looking for a Specialist Track Engineer (Rail Maintenance) to lead a small team within the Rail Maintenance Asset Assurance Track team.
Reporting to the Senior Track Engineer based in Karratha, you will be required to:
Aid defect response, management, and removal, minimising risk and business impact AFARP
Perform inspections and audits of track infrastructure and maintenance activities to provide assurance that assets are being managed according to required standards
Provide technical requirements for scope of works that meet the business objectives and RTIO Standards
Develop a prioritised quarterly Asset Replacement work bank in conjunction with Condition Monitoring, Asset Replacement and Planning teams
Provide engineering input into the planning and scheduling of maintenance and replacement of rail assets and interface with other work streams to optimise execution
Review maintenance processes and procedures to improve safety and asset performance
Analyse operating performance of assets, recommend and implement improvement projects to eliminate defects
Analyse performance of maintenance activities and repair works to determine effectiveness
Assess risk and provide direction to the execution teams and Engineers where standards are silent or ambiguous
Assess condition of the track to determine safe operating speed, open track to traffic post works, remove TSRs and/or apply speed restrictions
Contribute to the management and quality of asset data
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have a minimum of:
Tertiary qualification in either Mechanical or Civil engineering
5+ years experience in a rail maintenance or engineering role
High level knowledge of Railway Track Engineering concepts and principles
Current C Class Drivers Licence

Where you'll be working
Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and serves our 16 mines across the Pilbara via almost 2,000 km of track.
With depots at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier, most trains are autonomously operated and typically comprise three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.4 kilometres in length.
