General Manager – Equipment Hire and Repair

The General Manager will oversee the establishment and management (operational and financial) of a new business division focusing on hire, repair and trading of equipment used in the mining and transport industries.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to expand the company's footprint in the mining and transport industries;
Direct budgeting, forecasting and cost control measures to achieve sustainable profitability;
Recruit, lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of technical, operational and administrative staff;
Establish and oversee procurement and logistics functions, and other start-up activities such as the establishment of new workshops;
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and clients;
Oversee day-to-day operations of an equipment hire, repairs and trading business, ensuring compliance with customer standards and industry safety protocols;
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement;
Skills and Experience Required
Entrepreneurial mindset with aptitude for business development and growing a new business, and familiarity with equipment used in the mining and transport industries;
Senior leadership experience in the mining, transport or mechanical engineering sectors;
Strong business acumen with experience formulating and managing budgets;
Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities;
Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage large teams;
Strong negotiation and client relationship management skills;
