Burlington Berries is located at Burlington Farm in the beautiful agricultural hub of Cressy Tasmania. With a rich history in the horticulture industry, we specialise in growing a delicious range of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries for supply to Driscolls Australia.

Burlington Berries is a professional and family friendly, dynamic horticultural enterprise. With a 68-hectare farm and packhouse, we employ up to 500 people each year. Approx 2,750 tonnes of berries are grown and sold fresh for the domestic and international markets.

Burlington Berries focuses on quality and sustainable outcomes, using a protected cropping environment, biological controls, and advanced agronomic techniques.

About the Opportunity

As the Senior Horticulturalist/Manager, you will be at the forefront of our client's horticultural operations, responsible for leading a skilled team to optimise crop growth. You will manage irrigation, pest and disease control, climate, and plant management, whilst also ensuring safety compliance, contributing to the business strategy, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead weekly technical meetings and set clear priorities for each crop system and field.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

* Enabling collection and analysis of key technical data, providing timely reports
* Contributing to the broader business strategy and vision
* Overseeing the IPM strategy and rolling spray programs
* Managing irrigation and fertigation plans with the Irrigation Manager
* Ensuring timely decisions on climate and tunnel management are communicated to the operations team
* Leading the company's Research & Development Program, including our dedicated trial sites
* Leading interactions with external plant suppliers to ensure high-quality plant material

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess highly developed communication and interpersonal expertise, with the ability to bring out the best in people and gain full team support. Proactive and self-motivated, you have strong leadership skills to engage and motivate cross-functional teams.

Additionally, you are an organised and efficient multitasker, committed to teamwork and a customer-oriented approach.

To be considered for the role, it's important you can address the following criteria:

* High level experience with berry crops and/or protected cropping environment (5+ years)
* Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
* Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and positivity
* Expertise in irrigation, pest and disease control, and climate management
* Excellent communication and data analysis skills
