Description:
The Heritage Liaison/Coordinator Officer role acts as a key connection between Traditional Owners, Cultural Committees’ members, Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation (YSRC); and external stakeholders including government agencies and proponents. This position ensures transparent, respectful, and culturally appropriate engagement in heritage-related activities, while ensuring compliance, accountability, and professionalism in all heritage work. The role promotes trust, effective communication, and alignment on heritage matters while safeguarding cultural values and supporting heritage projects.
Job Requirements:
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating program outcomes and recommending enhancements for future initiatives.
- Assist in processing and maintaining accurate records of the heritage program including the filing of documents, communications, finances, and tracking of decisions and outcomes to ensure milestones and deliverables are met on time and in scope.
- Lead coordination with Cultural Committee’s to align with the YSRC Governance, ILUA, and Program Objectives.
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Traditional Owners and participant monitoring and survey requirements, providing transparent and respectful communication with all participants regarding roles, expectations, and safety protocols.
- Act as a primary point of contact for Traditional Owners, community members, and survey/monitoring participants for heritage related works.
- Support the involvement of Traditional Owners in fieldworks by assisting in their coordination for successful delivery. Inclusive of assisting TO logistics attendance, time sheet completion, relationship management between TOs and onsite stakeholder representatives to ensure transparent respectful engagement, and alignment on project goals ensuring heritage activities comply with legislative requirements, YSRC policies, and cultural protocols.
- Work within and comply with all YSRC policies, procedures, and established guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with all colleagues, teams, and stakeholders throughout the course of work.
- Actively and positively contribute to the YSRC team culture.
- Follow all other reasonable management requests as directed.
