Job Summary
This position requires a highly knowledgeable Civil/Structural Engineer to lead technical design efforts and manage structural design teams on large multi-discipline projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent people and communication skills, strong computer skills, and extensive knowledge of steel & concrete structures, foundation design, timber design, masonry design, architectural codes, site design, and permitting.
* Key Responsibilities:
o Provide technical design leadership and exercise independent judgment with little to no direction from management.
o Manage the structural design effort for multiple projects and develop engineering drawings and documents.
o Generate technical solutions to problems of unusual complexity and perform design calculations using computer-aided design equipment.
o Participate in project meetings and act as structural team lead, working in, and sometimes leading, teams on large multi-discipline projects.
o Thrive in a fast-paced, schedule-driven atmosphere and make and meet commitments.
o Perform field work and observe construction, monitor budgets and schedules, and mentor junior engineers.
o Develop proposals, generate material take-offs and construction estimating, and light travel within the region.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited Civil or Structural Engineering program.
* Possess or be on track to obtain a Professional Engineer license within 6 months.
* 4-7 years relevant experience in a high-seismic area is required.
* Excellent people and communication skills (oral and written).
* Team player and ability to work on multiple projects.
* Strong computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
* Ability to work well with other engineers/designers and proficient with structural design software.
