Primary objective
Provide a high level of technical expertise in providing maintenance services to the NT Police Force (NTPF) and NT Fire and
Emergency Service light (NTFES) vehicle and four-wheel drive fleet, whilst ensuring the fleet is maintained in accordance
with Australian Safety Standards in a safe and operational condition.
Context statement
The applicant will have relevant and current experience in maintaining a mixed fleet of service vehicles that operate in a high
tempo, high demand environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Responsible to the Darwin Light Vehicle Workshop Manager for carrying out servicing and maintenance of all NTPF and
NTFES light vehicles, four-wheel drives and trailers including testing, diagnosis and rectification of faults in all vehicular
systems.
2. Ability to diagnose complex electrical faults in up-to-date vehicle electronic management systems.
3. Carry out routine safety inspections and road worthiness inspections of all NTPF and NTFES light vehicles in accordance
with the NT Motor of Australia Motor Vehicle Act and WorkSafe regulations.
4. Maintain accurate workshop documentation including completion of maintenance work, recording of costs and
documentation of spare parts usage.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A trade certificate as a light vehicle mechanic
2. Demonstrated recent knowledge and experience in the provision of light vehicle repairs and fault diagnosis.
3. A current MVR inspectors’ licence for light vehicles, trailers and motorcycles or the ability to obtain one on
commencement.
4. A current NT driver’s licence with manual transmission endorsement.
Desirable
1. Current NT forklift license.
