Job Description
* Transport and Fleet Management
o Plan and schedule container deliveries and collections.
o Manage company fleet (trucks, trailers, cranes, forklifts) and subcontracted hauliers.
o Ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act and load regulations.
o Optimise routes and manage fuel consumption.
o Oversee vehicle maintenance and licensing.
* Project Logistics Coordination
o Coordinate deliveries with production, project managers, crane operators, and clients.
o Conduct site access assessments and risk evaluations.
o Ensure on-time delivery aligned with project schedules.
* Rental Fleet Control
o Manage deployment and recovery of rental units.
o Track container movement and availability.
o Coordinate urgent callouts and replacements.
o Oversee return inspections and damage assessments.
* Yard and Asset Management
o Control yard operations, stock allocation, and loading procedures.
o Ensure correct lifting methods and safety compliance.
o Maintain asset tracking systems.
* Compliance and Safety
o Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993).
o Maintain driver PDPs, crane certifications, and insurance documentation.
o Implement transport risk assessments and safety protocols.
* Cost and Performance Management
o Manage transport budgets and cost controls.
o Monitor KPIs including on-time delivery, fuel usage, and downtime.
o Prepare monthly logistics performance reports.
* Ad hoc Duties
o Assisting with audits.
o Prepare regular reports that assist management with cash flow management and expense tracking.
o Any other tasks as required by management.
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport, or Operations Management OR
* Between 4 – 8 years proven experience in heavy transport and construction logistics.
* Experience managing fleet operations.
* Experience in container, modular building, or construction logistics (highly advantageous).
* Strong knowledge of abnormal loads and route planning.
* Experience with fleet tracking systems.
* Valid driver's license (PDP advantageous).
