Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the WHSE Manager in meeting legal compliance, implementing safety management systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities.
Main Responsibilities:
* Prepare pre-starts with information provided by the Foreman and Site Manager, and all applicable paperwork;
* Plan for upcoming works in conjunction with the site management team;
* Document, report, and archive daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork to ensure accuracy for audit purposes;
* Assess and provide recommendations for rectification of on-site safety issues affecting staff;
* Daily reporting of site safety issues to the WHSE Manager;
* Daily site inspection;
* Conduct SWMS observations with the Site Manager;
* Arrange work permits and issue safety improvement notices;
* Risk assessments;
* Implement and ensure compliance of company policies and procedures;
* All associated administration work.
Requirements:
* Prior experience in a Health & Safety position within a construction environment;
* On-site experience, ideally with Tier 1 builders and sites;
* Cert IV in WHS as a minimum;
* A solid understanding of OH&S regulations;
* Excellent communication and administration skills;
* A passion for implementing and delivering change for continuous improvement;
* Microsoft Office proficient.
