Position Description – Senior Business Analyst (IT Separation / Demerger)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a large-scale IT separation / demerger program. This role will be critical in defining, documenting, and delivering the successful disentanglement of technology systems, infrastructure, and services across two independent entities.
You will bring proven experience working on IT carve-outs, separations, or M&A environments, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage complex stakeholder landscapes, and drive structured outcomes in a fast-paced transformation setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead business analysis activities across the full lifecycle of the IT separation program, from discovery through to execution and transition
* Work closely with infrastructure, networking, EUC, and application teams to identify, document, and map current-state environments
* Define and document target-state architectures, service models, and separation approaches
* Conduct gap analysis across systems, processes, and capabilities to support the separation strategy
* Develop detailed requirements documentation, including BRDs, functional/non-functional requirements, process maps, and data flows
* Support the creation of transition plans, including TSA (Transitional Service Agreements), cutover planning, and risk mitigation strategies
* Facilitate workshops with business and technical stakeholders to elicit requirements and validate assumptions
* Collaborate with project managers, architects, and vendors to ensure alignment between business needs and technical delivery
* Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and impacts across infrastructure and operational environments
* Ensure all documentation is clear, structured, and audit-ready, supporting governance and regulatory requirements
Key Experience & Skills
* Proven experience as a Business Analyst on IT separation, demerger, or M&A integration/carve-out projects (essential)
* Strong understanding of IT infrastructure environments, including:
o Networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, connectivity)
o Servers (on-prem and cloud)
o End User Computing (EUC) – devices, imaging, identity/access, collaboration tools
* Experience working within complex, enterprise-scale environments, ideally within retail or multi-site organisations
* Demonstrated ability to work across both technical and business domains
* Strong experience with:
o Requirements gathering and documentation
o Process modelling (current and future state)
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences
* Experience working with third-party vendors and managed service providers
* Familiarity with ITIL, service management, and transition frameworks is highly desirable
Documentation & Tools
* Exceptional documentation skills, with experience producing:
o Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
o Functional Specifications
o Process Maps (BPMN or similar)
o Data Flow Diagrams
o RAID logs and governance artefacts
* Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar

* Able to operate effectively in ambiguous and high-pressure environments
* Proactive, self-driven, and comfortable managing competing priorities

* Experience in retail, logistics, or multi-site operational environments
* Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) in separation contexts
* Prior involvement in TSA design and exit planning
