Overview
Casual Customer Delivery Driver at Cairns Airport for dnata catering & retail. Casual shifts 2-3 per week, with peak periods and holidays (Nov–Jan) up to 5 shifts per week. You will be part of our Airside team, the face of dnata catering on the tarmac.
As a Driver, you will be responsible for loading catering onto the aircraft, loading fully stocked aircraft trolleys onto hi-lift trucks, and driving a short distance to the aircraft. Once airside, you will guide the vehicle for a secure approach, load carts onto the aircraft, and work with airline cabin crew to ensure accuracy. You will also remove empty carts and return to our catering facility.
In a Nutshell, Your Main Responsibilities Are
- Short distance driving and basic vehicle safety checks, including refuelling.
- Safely load and unload trucks and aircraft with catering, equipment, carts and ovens, ensuring any discrepancies are followed up.
- Guide and position the trucks safely in line with Company, Airport, and Airline policies.
- As the face of our business, communicate and coordinate with Airline cabin crew for aircraft servicing and handover.
- Follow instructions from your Trainer, Shift Supervisor or Dept Head.
- Administrative documentation, shift reports and general cleaning duties as required.
What you need to be successful
- Must hold a clean valid MR or HR Driver’s License (min 1 year of driving).
- Be relatively fit and active. Ability to perform frequent manual handling tasks.
- Flexibility working around flight schedules is essential.
- Positive verbal and written communication skills.
- 20/20 vision and sound hearing are vital for on‑tarmac work.
- Neat and tidy presentation, well spoken.
- A cleared National Police Check is required (at our cost).
