The Audit and Risk Committee plays a vital role in providing independent assurance and assistance to our council. This committee comprises three Councillors and four independent members who bring their expertise in financial reporting, internal and external audit, risk management, and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert advice on financial reporting, internal and external audit, and risk management.
* Ensure compliance with local government legislation.
* Maintain a broad understanding of industry trends and best practices.
* Contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria:
* Must not be employed by our organization or have any executive capacity with us.
* Cannot have been retained as an advisor or consultant within the past three years.
Term of Appointment:
The term of appointment is three years. Please refer to our committees charter for full responsibilities and position description.
Committee Meetings:
Meetings are held quarterly, with potential for special meetings. Members are expected to attend in person at designated locations outside of business hours.
Remuneration:
Independent members receive remuneration of $1530 per meeting (including GST).
