Central West Refrigerated Services Pty Ltd offers refrigerated and general transport services to Central West Queensland and also provides specialist transport for items such as molasses and hay.
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Toowoomba, QLD with a can-do attitude.
About The Role
A heavy diesel mechanic inspects, maintains, repairs, and rebuilds heavy‑duty diesel engines.
Duties include
* Perform regular inspections and routine maintenance work such as oil changes, checking batteries, lubricating equipment and machinery to keep equipment running efficiently.
* Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and engines for proper performance and to detect potential faults or malfunctions.
* Replacing parts such as brake pads, filters, and wheel bearings to prevent future issues.
* Repairing or replacing malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
* Inspecting and diagnosing issues using specialized tools and computer diagnostics to identify mechanical and electrical problems in engines, transmissions, and other systems.
* Reading and interpreting diagnostic test results.
* Fix or replace worn or broken parts. This includes major work like engine overhauls and rebuilding components.
* Test repaired parts, machines and systems to ensure they are working correctly.
* Clean, lubricate, and service heavy‑duty vehicles.
* Advising manager / drivers on work performed, general vehicle condition, and future repair requirements.
* Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
* Maintain detailed and accurate service records and documentation.
* Maintaining a clean working environment.
* Adhere to workplace health and safety guidelines.
* Attending break downs away from the workshop.
To be considered you will need a relevant and recognised AQF Certificate IV or equivalent qualification and a minimum of one year of relevant employment experience; OR at least three years of relevant employment experience may substitute for the formal qualifications.
HC / MC drivers licence is desirable but not required.
This is a full time position, an immediate start is available. A remuneration package of $90,000 - $100,000 per annum will be offered to the successful candidate.
