The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) was established in 2024 as an economic enabler and holds a critical role to effectively and efficiently plan for, advise and regulate development to facilitate a growing economy. The Agency's purpose is to support the Territory's economic development and protect its natural and cultural assets through integrated planning, evidence-based advice and efficient regulation. Land Development plays a critical role in shaping the future of the Northern Territory in the strategic planning for essential infrastructure that enables new development. The unit works closely with the Northern Territory Planning Commission to align infrastructure with land use plans and manages a strategic pipeline of land development projects. The team's technical expertise supports Crown land release, development and the grant of land, facilitating the transition from planning to on-ground development for housing, industry or community uses. Through strategic planning and the facilitation of sustainable land development to support population growth, the team is committed to building a strong NT economy and vibrant communities.
As an
Engineer (P3)
you will be responsible for managing projects under the Land Development Program including project definition, front-end planning, securing statutory approvals, concept development of enabling infrastructure, and acting as the client representative during the delivery phase. In addition, you will provide engineering advice on masterplans and staged infrastructure strategies and report on the delivery of each project.
To be successful, you require a degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar field from a recognised tertiary institution, demonstrated ability in managing and providing advice on land development enabling infrastructure projects supported by excellent project management and organisational skills.
In return, you'll receive a competitive remuneration package, inclusive of 12% superannuation, 6 weeks' recreational and 3 weeks' personal leave, up to 17.5% annual leave allowance and additional paid leave to cover the Christmas – New Years' Day shut-down.
