The Electricity Division provides policy advice to the Australian Government on matters that support electricity markets to deliver beneficial outcomes for consumers. We support the Minister for Climate Change and Energy and Assistant Minister to drive national electricity market reforms and implement government policies that promote affordable, secure, and reliable electricity supply through the transition to net zero emissions. The division also delivers nationally significant projects in support of the energy transition, including the National Consumer Energy Resources Roadmap, community energy programs, and a joint review with the Department of Treasury into the performance of electricity markets as they evolve with the energy transformation.
Are you ready to help shape the future of Australia's electricity market? The NEM Review Branch is preparing to enter the implementation phase of the expert panel-led review into National Electricity Market (NEM) wholesale market settings. We are seeking EL1 policy professionals to support the delivery of major policy reform within the NEM. Successful candidates will work in one of the teams and collaborate closely with external stakeholders and internal teams to translate recommendations into actionable policy.
The NEM Review Secretariat, part of the Electricity Division, is responsible for delivering the NEM Review. The Secretariat currently includes five teams:
Engagement and Delivery Team – Governance, communications, procurement and stakeholder engagement.
Market Design team
Investment Mechanism Design team
Contract Design and Governance team
Cost Recovery team
The final structure of the substantive Branch will be determined following the delivery of the Final Report in December ****.
Key duties of the position include:
Translate the review's recommendations into detailed and implementable policies.
Conduct policy design, stakeholder engagement and impact analysis.
Collaborate across DCCEEW, the Commonwealth, jurisdictions, market bodies and external stakeholders.
Draft supporting materials for Ministers and senior executives.

Citizenship

Security Clearance
– this position requires a
Baseline Vetting
security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
