Permanency support program team leader

The Permanency Support Program (PSP) Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and leadership of a team of Case Managers who provide all aspects of case work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in the Samaritans Permanency Program. The Team Leader will support the practice of Case Managers to focus on safety, permanency, and wellbeing for children, young people, and their families and kin.

The program aims to give every child and young person the chance to have a loving, permanent home for life and strong family connections. It works with families to support successful restoration into family and culture and to provide ongoing support for families.

The PSP Team Leader will be part of the leadership team for Samaritans PSP, introducing reforms that shift the current placement-based service system to one focused on restoration and building lifelong family connections using the principles of Family Finding.

About you

You will have or be willing to obtain:

* Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Welfare, Psychology, Education, or relevant fields, along with transferrable experience
* Experience supervising a team
* Experience in case management focusing on family and carer engagement is highly regarded
* Strong interpersonal skills for negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution
* Empathetic, non-judgemental approach to working with children, young people, and families
* High autonomy in setting priorities aligned with organizational strategies
* Excellent case management documentation skills, especially regarding legal requirements of the Permanency Program
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with government and non-government agencies
* Understanding of relevant government legislation for the Permanency Program

The successful applicant will possess or be willing to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid & CPR certificates, and undertake a pre-employment medical assessment.
