We are looking for an experienced PHP Developer with strong Laravel capability to join a consulting organisation working closely with government on a large scale API based process improvement initiative. This program is already in motion and has strong executive sponsorship. What is needed now is someone who can take ownership and drive delivery forward with confidence. You will initially work alongside a Lead Developer who has deep knowledge of the architecture and objectives. There will be a structured handover period, after which you will take responsibility for delivering key components of the platform and shaping how the APIs are implemented and evolved. This is not a role where you will be hidden in the background. You will be trusted, relied upon, and given real autonomy. The initial contract is six months, however the program has a strong likelihood of extension well beyond that. What you will be doing Designing, building, and integrating APIs using PHP and Laravel Working across service integration points with a strong focus on reliability and clarity Collaborating with front end developers using TypeScript and React Taking ownership of delivery after handover from the Lead Developer Contributing to technical decisions and implementation patterns Working closely with stakeholders in a consulting and government context What we are looking for : Strong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel Solid experience building and integrating APIs Comfort working in a TypeScript and React environment, front end experience is a plus but not mandatory Someone who enjoys taking responsibility and seeing work through end to end Clear communicator who can work confidently with other developers and stakeholders Contractor mindset, delivery focused, pragmatic, and reliable This role will suit someone who enjoys stepping into an existing program, building trust quickly, and making themselves indispensable through quality delivery.
