The City of Perth is seeking a Building Surveyor to play a key part in ensuring the city meets its objectives for assessing, preparing, and issuing permits, certificates, and licences.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting inspections, monitoring, and auditing of existing building stock to ensure compliance with relevant statutes;
* Assessing and processing building applications in accordance with statutory requirements and industry standards;
* Supporting the building surveyor team with the development of work programs, policies, and procedures to improve service delivery;
* Consulting, advising, and negotiating with senior building consultants and practitioners to resolve technical issues related to development proposals, approvals, and clearances.
About the Role:
* You will possess knowledge and experience working with the Building Code of Australia, related Australian Standards, and relevant building approval processes and statutory requirements;
* A sound knowledge of performance-based principles, building design, construction, and services requirements, and building standards;
* Strong problem-solving, negotiation, teamwork, and staff mentoring skills to ensure successful project delivery and staff development;
* Excellent organisational skills and judgment, including an ability to work on multiple projects, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
