About The Role

The Moondani Toombadool Centre is seeking a talented Senior Indigenous Student Advisor to join the Indigenous Student Services team. In this role, you will coordinate and administer services for students identifying as Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples across Higher Education (HE), Vocational Education (VET), Swinburne Online (SOL), and Open Universities Australia (OUA).

Reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Student Services, you will help lead a crucial set of initiatives to enhance access to tertiary study, improve retention, and promote positive graduate outcomes while supporting the University's Reconciliation Action Plan and Indigenous Business Action Plans. You will work closely with university staff and provide direct support to students from pre-enrolment through to post-graduate studies, assisting with pathways to further education, employment, and scholarship applications.

Additionally, you will monitor student progress, facilitate access to support services such as administering and maintaining the Indigenous Academic Success Program, and help facilitate a number of key cultural events.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to progress Swinburne's Reconciliation Action Plan, Indigenous Business Action Plans and the Indigenous Student Charter related to Indigenous student targets and outcomes
* Implement, monitor and evaluate student success strategies to progress Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student retention and successful completions and make recommendations for improvements in service delivery.
* Develop and lead the delivery of ongoing mentoring support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, in consultation with key schools, departments and areas as required.
* Manage and solve complex student issues, provide advocacy and high-level support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students when required. Liaise with key staff, schools, departments and areas to ensure successful course transition and retention of Indigenous students.
* Contribute to the preparation of HEPPP, Wurreker and ISSP Reports
* Manage and coordinate the collection of data for all student engagement activities to contribute to reports.
* Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships to ensure the transmission of accurate and timely information relating to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

Qualifications

* A degree with subsequent relevant experience; (with a preference for a completed qualification in Education, Psychology or Social Work) or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in an education/training setting
