We are seeking a highly capable Electrical Engineering Technician's eager to support the safe operation, maintenance, and electrical reliability of our specialised rail grinding machine and track machinery.
This role combines hands‐on electrical technical work with operational responsibilities, making it ideal for an Electrical Engineering Technician who enjoys both equipment maintenance and field‐based machine operation in a rail environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring our multi‐million‐dollar rail maintenance equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform electrical testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting on rail maintenance equipment, including power supply circuits, control panels, wiring systems, sensors, and electromechanical components.
* Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, including inspection, testing, calibration, repair, and replacement to ensure operational reliability and compliance with electrical safety standards.
* Diagnose electrical faults affecting equipment operation and implement corrective actions in line with manufacturer specifications, rail safety procedures, and electrical regulations.
* Record electrical test results, maintenance activities, and fault reports to support operational compliance and ongoing system reliability.
* Assist with updates to electrical documentation, schematics, and maintenance records.
* Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure electrical systems meet performance and safety expectations.
* Operate electrically controlled track machinery and complete grinding work according to SRMA policies and procedures in line with client requirements.
* Operate fire tender vehicles safely and efficiently in rail environments and respond to rail-related fire incidents, hazardous material spills, and other emergencies.
Requirements:
* Strong competency in electrical diagnosis, maintenance and fault finding.
* Previous experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician.
* Ability to operate and monitor electrically powered rail maintenance machinery.

* Valid C class manual drivers licence essential.
* Ability to follow instruction through to task completion.

Pay: $105,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
