The Student and Academic Services Officer is responsible for contributing to a high-quality student experience as part of the Student & Academic Services Team (SAS).The role is crucial in providing efficient and effective administrative support to students and staff, coordinating engaging campus events (such as orientation and graduation), and fostering a positive and inclusive student experience at the La Trobe University Sydney Campus. This multifaceted position requires a proactive, organized, enthusiastic, and student-centered individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and build a strong sense of community on campus. Plan, organize, and execute a diverse range of campus events and activities aimed at enhancing the student experience, fostering engagement, and promoting the university's profile. This may include welcome events, orientation, social gatherings, workshops, information sessions, career development events, and graduation ceremonies. Produce and plan a student activities calendar. Manage all logistical aspects of events, including venue booking, catering, AV requirements, marketing and promotion, registration, and on-site coordination. Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial guidelines. Assist with student administration, including enrolment processes, fee enquiries, managing student records, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. Maintain and update student databases and information systems with accuracy and confidentiality. Undertake general administrative support for the Academic Managers Develop and maintain relationships with key internal (e.g. La Trobe University and La Trobe College Australia staff) and industry stakeholders (e.g. Study NSW), with the aim of developing and implementing initiatives aimed at improving the student experience. Maintain an understanding of regulatory requirements including the ESOS Act (2000) and National Code (2018) as they relate to and impact on international students and support service provision. Support, promote and abide by LTU and LTCA’s policies and procedures as they apply to both students and staff. Other projects and tasks as designated by the Student & Academic Services Manager. Qualifications Essential: Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Diploma, Associate Degree) and/or equivalent relevant experience in student administration, event management, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in providing high-quality administrative support and customer service in a student-focused environment. Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute successful events and activities. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and student management systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach. A strong commitment to providing a positive and supportive experience for students.
