About the Role
Just Care is seeking a reliable and compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a participant living in supported accommodation and the community. The role focuses on assisting with daily living, promoting independence, and supporting the participant to engage safely and meaningfully in everyday activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide person-centred support in line with the participant's support plan
* Assist with daily living activities and personal care as required
* Support domestic tasks and household routines
* Assist with community access, social activities, and appointments
* Promote independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing
* Maintain professional boundaries and follow house rules and policies
* Communicate effectively with the support team and report concerns appropriately
Essential Requirements
* Certificate III (or higher) in Disability, Individual Support, or equivalent (or working towards)
* Previous experience working as a Disability Support Worker
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Reliable, patient, and respectful approach
* NDIS Worker Screening Check
* National Police Check
* Current First Aid and CPR certification
* Australian driver's licence and reliable vehicle
* Behaviour Support & Risk Mitigation
To mitigate issues related to Behaviours of Concern (BOC), the Disability Support Worker will:
* Follow the participant's Behaviour Support Plan and organisational policies at all times
* Use calm, consistent, and proactive support strategies
* Identify early warning signs and respond appropriately to de-escalate situations
* Maintain clear professional boundaries and structured routines
* Communicate concerns promptly with the support team and document incidents accurately
* Support the participant in developing positive coping strategies and emotional regulation
Additional Desirable Skills
* Experience supporting participants with Behaviours of Concern
* Understanding of positive behaviour support (PBS) and trauma-informed care
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond safely to challenging situations
