Key Responsibilities
The CNE plays a pivotal role in developing the clinical capability of nursing staff through education, training, and professional support. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, the CNE will foster a culture of excellence, lifelong learning, and evidence‑based practice in one of the busiest and most dynamic emergency departments in NSW. Your role will design, deliver, and evaluate education programs to enhance clinical competence and confidence among nursing staff, support new graduates, student nurses, and experienced clinicians through orientation, mentoring, and ongoing development, while promoting a model of evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement in patient care.
Qualifications
- Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Relevant clinical/education post‑registration qualification or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer
- Recent extensive clinical experience deemed appropriate by the selection panel
- Demonstrated ability to identify learning needs and to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate education
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to work in a consultative manner
- Demonstrated previous experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and preceptorship
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team environment
- Commitment to working with NMUM to establish and maintain a learning environment that values and encourages learning and reflective practice
