About the role
The role of the Senior Accountant - Governance & Controls Compliance Specialist involves the support of the ERP Implementation Teams with the implementation, maintenance and testing of the internal control environment within the ERP.
The right candidate will need significant experience in ERP implementation and SOX Controls, and will also be capable of making recommendations and provide specialist advice and compliance and risk.
Key responsibilities
Data Governance
Design, implement, and enhance data risk frameworks and control mechanisms across during migration to new ERP.
Develop and maintain monitoring processes to ensure adherence to internal policies and relevant external regulatory requirements.
Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
Provide insights and recommendations on data risk trends and compliance gaps.
Accounting Controls & Audit
Create and implement internal audit plan aligned with the ERP Project plan and align with Quanta's Accounting Process Controls requirements (ie. SOD, RCM and SOX controls).
Prepare accurate audit evidence and appropriate documented support for Project team and Quanta's reviews.
Assist with the management of incidents using appropriate platform and tools, escalating where required.
IT General Controls
Work with the IT Compliance team to ensure that all IT General Control processes are implemented and operated in a manner that is compliant with internal policies and industry requirements.
Act as the Financial Point of Contact for all ITGC queries.
Validate IT testing approaches (SIT/UAT) to ensure key automated controls and configuration‑driven financial controls are tested and documented adequately.
Support IT in designing, validating, and governing interfaces and key reports used for financial reporting, ensuring logic, data sourcing, and outputs meet auditability and accuracy standards.
Provide oversight over business‑managed configuration within Financial systems such as workflows, approvals to ensure it aligns with internal policies and frameworks.
Experience
Qualifications: Degree in Accounting, and CPA or CA.
Min 5 years of experience in ERP‑focused auditing or compliance, specifically with large‑scale systems.
This role requires deep, hands‑on experience with U.S. SOX controls and requires a candidate with direct SOX compliance experience.
Previous experience in the implementation of ERP in an organisation of considerable scale and turnover.
Relevant work experience in either professional services, or similar organisation preferable with construction/infrastructure projects.
Previous experience in the ongoing support to end user of finance systems and managing enhancements or upgrades.
Ability to communicate with a variety of people in different functions.
Intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
