About The Team
Armidale Hospital is a 99‐bed regional facility serving the New England community and providing a broad range of healthcare services. Our administration team plays a vital role in supporting clinicians, patients and visitors by delivering professional, efficient and accurate administrative services across the hospital. Working closely with inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, emergency services and specialist departments, the team is committed to ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation and exceptional customer service that supports positive patient outcomes.
About The Role
As a Medical Typist, you will play an important role in supporting clinicians through the preparation of accurate clinical documentation and correspondence.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribing medical dictations, clinical reports and correspondence with a high degree of accuracy.
- Producing timely documentation to support patient care and clinical decision‐making.
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence and maintaining electronic records.
- Responding to telephone and face‐to‐face enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Providing administrative support to medical staff and specialist clinicians.
- Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with privacy and documentation standards.
- Utilising a range of computer systems, transcription software and clinical applications.
About You
You are a motivated and reliable administration professional who takes pride in producing high‐quality work and supporting healthcare teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in medical typing or transcription.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong computer skills across word processing and clinical systems.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative environment where teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement are highly valued.
- Strong organisational and time‐management skills.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
- A professional, adaptable and patient‐focused approach to work.
