We are entering an exciting new chapter in our operational journey with the transition to an owner-operated Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP). This strategic shift marks a significant milestone for the business and presents a unique opportunity to help shape the future of coal processing at Foxleigh.
As we build internal capability for this new venture, we are seeking a Process Engineer to play a key role in driving performance, ensuring plant reliability, and embedding a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
The opportunity:
This role is responsible for optimising CHPP performance by providing technical leadership, supporting coal processing operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet safety, quality, and production goals. The requirements of this role include:
* Monitor and report on CHPP performance, identifying trends and taking corrective actions to meet or exceed safety, quality, and production targets.
* Coordinate coal beneficiation operations to optimise yield, product quality, and plant productivity in line with site objectives.
* Provide technical support to production, maintenance, and laboratory teams to ensure stable, efficient plant operation .
* Deliver technical guidance to stakeholders to support the successful ramp-up and ongoing optimisation of processing plants.
* Conduct process modelling and manage or commission small-scale improvement projects as required.
* Assist with the development of training materials, operating procedures, and systems to build workforce capability.
* Support operator crews and lab services teams, ensuring alignment between production needs and technical support functions.
* Ensure laboratory personnel are actively supporting ramp-up activities and maintaining safe, compliant practices.
* Assist in contractor supervision for service delivery and project support.
* Contribute to budget development through accurate reporting, cost tracking, and technical input.
* Evaluate and manage operational risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies as required.
* Identify, implement, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the CHPP.
About you:
To succeed in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience:
* Engineering degree ideally in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical or related discipline
* Minimum 2+ years' experience in mineral comminution, beneficiation and solid/liquid separation technologies
* Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on defect elimination and plant performance improvement.
* Demonstrated CHPP operational and technical experience, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise processing plant performance.
* Sound understanding of production and maintenance management principles within a mining or heavy industry environment.
* Foundational knowledge of control systems engineering and process automation used in plant operations.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to optimise processes.
* Proven ability to support plant ramp-up and commissioning activities in a safe and structured manner.
* Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and technical teams.
* Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
* An uncompromising commitment to safety, with demonstrated adherence to site safety systems, risk management, and legislative compliance.
