THE ROLE
We have a number of Casual opportunities for suitably experienced Assistants in Nursing to join our Casual pool at Macquarie University Hospital. This position is responsible for providing high quality nursing care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse will provide supervision and support to the Assistant in Nursing whilst carrying out their duties. The role provides care and comfort to our patients in their activities of daily living and assists the Registered Nurse with the monitoring and treatment of our patients. This role may also include clerical and administrative duties.

About You:
The Assistant of Nursing provides a quality standard of non-direct and non-direct patient care activities in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse must provide direction and supervision to the Assistant of Nursing whilst carrying out their duties. Assistants in Nursing work within a plan of care under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse. The role provides care and comfort for individuals in the activities of daily living and assists patients in meeting their basic human needs. A reasonable level of fitness is required to cope with the demanding physical requirements of the role.
Key Accountabilities for an Assistant in Nursing include:
- Implements various aspects of the nursing care plan as delegated by the Registered Nurse- Accountable for assisting with routine activities for patients under the direction and delegation from a Registered Nurse- Documents all patient responses to direct care/assistance given, and specific observations in the patient medical record in accordance with the plan of care and organisational protocols- Works productively to support the nursing team with clinical and non-clinical activities.- Demonstrates a willingness to work positively within a team to achieve team goals and the provision of excellence in care/service delivery- Practices good problem solving skills relating to stakeholder management, ensuring multiple key relationships are working efficiently towards shared goals- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as legislation affecting nursing practice at all times- Practices professionally and ethically according to the aims, objectives, and core values of Macquarie University Hospital- Maintains good customer relations in a way that acknowledges dignity, culture, values, beliefs and the rights of individuals and groups.
