You will join a team of highly motivated and collaborative professionals in the Indigo Delivery Branch (IDB) who lead the build, refinement and deployment of modern, secure and agile AEC services and technologies for the Indigo Program within the Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD).
The Indigo Delivery Branch (IDB) consists of three teams :
* Indigo Build Delivery : Multi-disciplinary teams that build, refine and deploy solutions to re-engineer business processes and replace aging electoral systems with modern, secure and agile technologies.
* Indigo Build Quality : Multi-disciplinary teams with a focus on quality in an agile development environment. Completing functional and non-functional testing, we coordinate both User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Deployment activities.
* Indigo Systems Team : The Indigo Systems Team provides technical expertise to the broader Indigo Program across multiple disciplines, including architecture, security, Azure cloud, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, enterprise integration, and infrastructure to support and enable agile delivery teams. Acting as the IT enabler, the team ensures that Indigo systems are efficiently designed, secure, integrated and deployed.

The Indigo Delivery Branch has Assistant Director roles available across all three teams (Indigo Systems Team, Indigo Build Delivery and Indigo Build Quality). As an Assistant Director in IDB, you will work with limited direction to support the Director and Program Manager to deliver the Indigo Program, while providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure strategic outcomes are met and work packages are delivered effectively against scope, budget, time and to a high quality.
You will play a key role in delivering technical projects and procurements, including working with vendors and external partners ensuring governance and regulatory requirements are strictly adhered to. You will develop and maintain critical reporting, documentation, assessments, frameworks and briefs across Security, Architecture, Governance, Delivery, Software Development and more.
As an Assistant Director, you will engage, communicate and negotiate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership, to influence decision making, align priorities and drive successful Program outcomes. You will foster a high-performance culture, driving innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration across teams, while providing leadership and guidance to team members.
To excel you'll have :
* Demonstrated experience in managing ICT / Technical programs / projects, including effective planning / scheduling, task management, resource management and quality management. Managing issues and risks, ensuring proactive controls that minimise disruptions to schedule, quality and budget.
* Demonstrated experience managing high volumes of work and competing priorities, with the ability to deliver high-quality work to agreed standards and timeframes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and levels of seniority.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships and use professional judgement to communicate decisions and manage stakeholder expectations.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and implement pragmatic, fit-for-purpose solutions.
* Demonstrated high integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC's strategic direction.
* Demonstrated proficiency in using Information Communications Technology (ICT) tools to maintain project / program records and information - e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Azure DevOps, Electronic Records Management (ERM) systems.
* Tertiary qualifications and / or an industry recognised certification in Management, Business Administration, Project Management or a similar field.
* Demonstrated work experience executing and managing ICT programs / projects in the Australian Government context.
* Experience in Agile ways of working, such as SCRUM or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
