The Opportunity

Kulungais the Aboriginal leadership and engagement division of Kids Research Institute Australia, focused on improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families through culturally safe, community-informed research. It shapes the Institute's Aboriginal research agenda, builds workforce capacity, and advances the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The Kimberley Operations Manager works closely with the Head of Kulunga to support the delivery of key priorities in the Institute's Research Reimagined 2025–2035 Strategic Plan, including the Aboriginal Employment Career Development Strategy (AECDS). In consultation with the Head, the role builds strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, supports effective communication with community members, research participants and researchers, and oversees logistics and project management for the Kids Kimberley team.

This role is responsible for:

* Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation to engage stakeholders, in order to develop new initiatives, continuous improvement and ensure successful outcomes.
* Ability to use initiative and demonstrate leadership to assist researchers with framing of the research program.
* Working with Head, Kulunga ensure Institute policy, planning and decision-making are based on community wisdom, research and data, which together form best practice and evidence.
* Ensure project governance mechanisms in place for all projects in the portfolio including Ethics requirements, research governance, risk management, reporting, and compliance with funding and contractual obligations.
* Develop policies and procedures to guide projects within the team and ensures compliance with all Institute policies and procedures where applicable.

Based at our office in Broome, WA, this is a full time, ongoing role.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following:

* Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or relevant experience (e.g. Project Management).
* Relevant experience in administrative, project management or business capacity.
* An understanding and ability to articulate Aboriginal self-determination, community advancement and capacity building, as well as a high quality of service delivery and organisational excellence.
* A highly developed understanding of Aboriginal research, research design and application across diverse cultural settings.
* Experience in working with Aboriginal communities and multiple stakeholders, including demonstrated ability to consult with community and represent community views and interest.
* Great people skills with the ability to develop strong internal and external relationships.
