The Opportunity
We are looking for lawyers who want to be at the forefront of change in the legal industry and reframe what it looks like to be a lawyer in the modern world.
In order to provide the most holistic, efficient and effective legal advice to our clients we are looking to hire a Lawyer/Associate in our growing team to manage and supervise a range of Commercial, Real Estate and Banking & Finance matters including contract drafting, review and negotiation for our most valued clients.
This role gives you the opportunity to think differently about how we deliver legal advice, including utilising global teams, legal technology, and generative AI. Your commercial curiosity and enthusiasm for utilising technology are just as important as your technical ability to effectively manage the full lifecycle of a major transaction.
Strong communication and people skills are also critical as you will not only manage junior lawyers and legal analysts, but also build strong, commercial working relationships with our practice groups, consulting division and clients locally and globally.
Please review the full job description attached to the role on our careers page as it provides further details on the role and what we are looking for.
We are interested in hearing from people who have:
* A minimum of 2 years' legal experience in corporate/commercial transactions (ideally, exposure to some or all of Corporate, Real Estate and Finance) within a respected firm, Commonwealth or state government, or in-house role.
* Experience working with contracts across a range of commercial activities such as sales, procurement, franchising, distribution, reseller, joint ventures, access arrangements and/or IT.
* A desire to be a part of a growing team that's seeking to change the way we provide advice to our clients. Curiosity and an enthusiasm to challenge, innovate and think differently.
* Well-developed legal skills, including drafting, negotiating, analysis, and project management.
* An ability to communicate complex matters in a clear and effective manner using plain English (both verbally and written).
* Experience (or a keen interest in) utilising legal technology, including generative AI, and a keen desire to be across technological change and how to utilise that to deliver legal advice.
We value diverse perspectives at Ashurst, so even if you don't feel you meet all of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply.
