About the Role
As a Senior R&D Mechatronics Engineer at Boresight you will be responsible for developing critical avionics and electronics to enhance the performance, capability, scalability and manufacturability of Boresight's UAS. Such systems include flight computers, companion computers, datalinks and peripherals such as sensors/ESCs. Additionally, as a senior R&D engineer you will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the successful delivery of key projects. This is a full-time position based at Boresight's engineering office in Fyshwick, Canberra. You MUST be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this role.
Role Responsibilities
* Research, develop, design, test & evaluate critical and complex electrical systems for integration into Boresight UAS products.
* Generate and maintain schematics, PCB design files.
* Liaise with PCB manufacturers, PCB assemblers and associated suppliers to coordinate production of Boresight electronic systems.
* Identify and manage relationships with third party design specialists to achieve both product and design objectives.
* Prepare technical documentation, including; manufacturing drawings and assembly procedures, user and maintenance manuals, test procedures and reports.
* Use rapid prototyping tools and methodologies to build and test electrical designs including manual soldering techniques, use of associated hand tools.
* Liaise with the wider engineering team to develop, improve and validate electrical systems.
* Contribute to development discussions and reviews from concept to productisation of Boresight's range of UAVs.
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronic, Electrical or Electronics & Communications)
* 8+ years experience developing PCBA designs
* Experience with programming, Python, C, C++ or similar
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities
* Proven leadership skills.
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Experience with EDA tools (Altium, Eagle, KiCAD etc)
* Hold/obtain a minimum Baseline security clearance (must be an Australian citizen)
Desired Qualifications
* Experience with UAVs in either a professional, educational or hobby environment
* Experience with electronics design-for-manufacturing
* Demonstrable ability with soldering, use of electronics hand-tools and test equipment
* Experience with 3D printing and other rapid prototyping tools
* Remote pilot licence (RePL)

Additional Information
This role requires the successful candidate to utilise cutting-edge manufacturing equipment for the rapid development/testing cycle of Boresight's UAVs and as such is based in Canberra. Note that you must be able to obtain/hold an AGSVA security clearance for this position.
