Livestock & Farm Operations – Multiple Positions (Feedlot)
Erim Downs Feedlot is one of Western Australia's growing cattle operations, managing both feedlot and pasture-based livestock systems.
As the operation expands, we are recruiting several full-time staff across livestock management, agricultural operations and farm infrastructure support. These roles offer long-term employment opportunities in a developing agribusiness located in regional Western Australia.
POSITION 1 – Senior Livestock Farm Worker
$82,000 – $85,000 p.a.
Role overview
This is a senior livestock role responsible for supervising daily cattle operations and supporting livestock management activities across feeding, animal health and farm infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate daily livestock operations including feeding, drafting, weighing and loading cattle
* Implement feeding programs and oversee feed delivery using tractors and feed equipment
* Monitor livestock health, behaviour and welfare and report issues to supervisors or veterinarians
* Maintain livestock records including weights, treatments and feeding logs
* Ensure compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity and workplace safety procedures
* Train and supervise farm workers in safe livestock handling and feeding routines
* Oversee maintenance of livestock infrastructure including yards, troughs, fences and feed systems
Skills & experience required
* Minimum 3 years relevant livestock / feedlot experience
* Demonstrated leadership or supervisory capability
* Knowledge of cattle husbandry and animal welfare practices
* Experience operating agricultural machinery
* Current driver's licence required
POSITION 2 – Cattle & Sheep Farm Worker
$76,000 – $81,000 p.a.
Role overview
This role performs routine livestock and farm duties supporting daily cattle care, feeding operations and general farm maintenance.
Key responsibilities
* Assist with feeding livestock and maintaining water supply
* Monitor livestock condition and report issues to supervisors
* Assist with drafting, weighing, moving and loading livestock
* Assist with livestock treatments and husbandry tasks
* Maintain livestock yards, fences, troughs and farm infrastructure
* Operate general farm machinery when trained
* Complete basic farm records and logs
Skills & experience required
* At least 1 year livestock or farm experience OR relevant qualification
* Basic understanding of livestock handling and farm safety
* Ability to work outdoors in rural environments
* Driver's licence required
POSITION 3 – Broadacre Crop & Livestock Farmer
$85,000 – $95,000 p.a.
Role overview
Responsible for planning and coordinating crop production and livestock grazing activities across the farm.
Key responsibilities
* Manage crop production including planting, fertilising, spraying and harvesting
* Monitor soil and pasture conditions to support livestock grazing systems
* Coordinate use of agricultural machinery and farm equipment
* Assist with livestock management where required
* Maintain farm infrastructure including fencing and water systems
Skills & experience required
* Experience in broadacre farming operations
* Knowledge of crop and pasture management
* Ability to operate agricultural machinery
* Farm management experience preferred
POSITION 4 – Excavator Operator
$80,000 – $90,000 p.a.
Role overview
Responsible for operating excavators and earthmoving machinery to support farm infrastructure development and maintenance.
Key responsibilities
* Operate excavators and earthmoving equipment safely
* Conduct trenching, earthworks and site preparation
* Assist with installation of water systems, fencing and infrastructure
* Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance
* Follow workplace safety procedures
Skills & experience required
* Experience operating excavators or heavy machinery
* Relevant machinery tickets preferred
* Ability to work safely in rural environments
Additional roles
Welding, fabrication & mechanical repairs
Position: Weld/Fabrication role
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 p.a.
Role overview
Responsible for welding, fabrication and mechanical repairs of farm equipment and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
* Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks
* Repair and maintain agricultural machinery and equipment
* Install and maintain steel livestock infrastructure
* Conduct preventative maintenance on farm machinery
* Diagnose and repair mechanical faults
Skills & experience required
* Trade qualification or relevant welding / fabrication experience
* Experience repairing machinery or equipment
* Ability to read technical drawings desirable
Position: Farm Cost & Admin
$70,000 – $80,000 p.a.
Role overview
Responsible for maintaining operational cost records and assisting with financial reporting related to farm operations.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain cost records for livestock production and farm operations
* Monitor feed usage and operational expenses
* Assist with budgeting and financial reporting
* Prepare reports for management and accountants
* Maintain accurate administrative records
Skills & experience required
* Experience in bookkeeping, accounting or cost administration
* Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office systems
