Casual Position Overview
Home Support Workers help our clients with:
- Personal care such as showering, grooming, or assistance with dressing
- Social support with companionship or attending community appointments or recreational activities
- Capacity-building activities to assist with learning new skills or increasing independence
- Domestic assistance such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, or light household cleaning
- Recording attendance through a smartphone application, and providing a summary of tasks completed
Requirements
- Must be able to converse in English and Italian to engage with the client
- Own registered and insured car, and Victorian Driver's Licence
- Proactive in supporting an individual with unique needs and preferences in daily living activities
- Commit to work arrangements required to meet the physical, psychological, and social support needs of clients; flexible for work within school hours with the casual position
- Aim to roster with permanent shifts; reliable and effective communication is integral
Home Support Workers – Minimum Qualifications
- National Police Check (less than a year old if not NDIS Worker Screening Check)
- Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Comprehensively insured, registered, and well-maintained car
- Certificate III in Individual Support or a similar discipline (Aged Care, Disability, Home and Community Care, Personal Assistance)
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
- NDIS Worker Screening Check or Working with Children Check is advantageous
Remuneration
Positive Works for Australia pays SCHADS award wages with allowances pro rata to the jobs attended for casual rates of a home support worker. Remuneration is divided into a base rate for disability and aged care services, plus allowances and reimbursements.
Selection Criteria
- Availability Monday–Friday at 10:00am (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- Registered, road-worthy, and insured vehicle
- Demonstrated ability to perform tasks listed in the position overview
- Alignment with company values
- Ability to meet compliance and qualification criteria in the requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role
