The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly capable Commercial Manager to take ownership of the commercial function within our projects. This pivotal leadership role will see you working closely with Project Directors and clients to provide strategic commercial oversight, manage risks, and drive profitable outcomes across multiple projects.
You will be accountable for managing contracts, claims, budgets, and commercial governance while guiding and developing a team of project and contract administrator.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee all commercial aspects of project delivery, from pre-contract to final account.
* Provide strategic advice on commercial, contractual, and risk issues to senior leadership and project teams.
* Manage head contracts and subcontract agreements, including negotiation and execution.
* Drive claims management, variations, extensions of time, and dispute resolution with clients and subcontractors.
* Ensure project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls are accurate, transparent, and aligned with delivery targets.
* Oversee preparation of progress claims, payment schedules, and financial reporting.
* Develop and embed commercial systems, processes, and best practices across the business.
* Mentor and lead junior commercial staff, fostering professional growth and high performance.
* Represent Consilium in client negotiations, commercial meetings, and project progress reviews.
* Conduct site visits to ensure performance, compliance, and commercial alignment.
About You
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
* 8+ years' experience in commercial management or senior contract administration within construction/mining.
* Degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar.
* Proven track record in managing complex contracts, claims, and commercial negotiations.
* Strong financial management skills with ERP software and advanced Excel capability.
* Exceptional communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
* Ability to balance detail with strategy, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and without compromise on quality.
