Posted on 27th May, 2025 Upper Strings Teacher (Violin/Viola) Fixed Term Contract (Term 3, 2025 until end of Term 2, 2026) About Us Samford Valley Steiner School is excited to invite applications for the position of Upper Strings Teacher to join our vibrant and dynamic music faculty. This is a fixed term part-time (0.9 FTE) contracted role, beginning at the start of Term 3, 2025 (21 July, 2025) and concluding at the end of Term 2, 2026 (Wednesday 1 July, 2026). This year, the teaching days are Monday through Thursday, with a half-day on Fridays. Please note that the days may change slightly in 2026, depending on the timetable. The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for providing violin and viola tuition to students in Class 3 to 12, both in individual lessons and small group settings. The role requires a teacher who is skilled in creating engaging lesson plans that incorporate a variety of methods and techniques, with a particular focus on aural learning. Experience in conducting ensembles of various levels and age groups is essential. A passion for fostering strong, trusting relationships with students and a desire to work collaboratively is key to success in this role. As a member of the music faculty, the Upper Strings Teacher will contribute to the development of the strings program, ensuring it aligns with the school’s curriculum, philosophy, and overall music vision. The teacher will be required to attend after-school faculty meetings on Tuesdays, as well as all music concerts and events throughout the school year. There is also one overnight camp in Term 3, 2025. Key Responsibilities: As the Upper Strings Teacher, you will: Deliver high-quality violin and viola tuition to students from Class 3-12. Codirect ensembles of varying skill levels and age groups. Collaborate with fellow faculty members to support and enhance the school’s music program. Foster a supportive, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth. Participate in the broader life of the school community, including concerts, festivals, school events and music camps. Engage in ongoing professional development to continually refine teaching practices. What We’re Looking For Bachelor of Music, specialising in either violin or viola. Current Blue Card, unless already registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. Desirable Attributes: A genuine enthusiasm for Steiner Education and a willingness to embrace its pedagogical principles.
