Our client is currently seeking a Level 3 / SME Network and Systems Administrator to join their team for an initial 6 month contract to proactively support, implement, document, maintain and improve the client's infrastructure, backup, DR system and cloud file storage solutions.
Work as part of small agile IT team to plan, configure, deploy, support and manage on-premises and could infrastructure services.
**Duties**:
- Design, build, and manage routing and switching solutions including configuration, automation, and monitoring
- Build, configure, and maintain network security solutions including firewalls, virtual appliances, VPNS, as well as cloud-native routing and switching technologies
- Install and manage physical hardware including, network routers, switches, and server
- Work as part of a team and independently to perform cyber compliance activities.
- Configuring and maintaining servers, networks, systems and sub-systems that support operations
- Performing research and development of new platforms and processes
- Maintain and update IT standard operating procedures and knowledge-based articles including server and network appliance installation and configuration details, backup strategies, network diagrams and server and desktop patch upgrades
- Assist the Infrastructure Manager with procurement specifying network hardware and software and obtaining vendor quotes.
**Skills Required**:
- Formal qualifications in System Engineering or Computer Science, or
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and delivery and support of the full MS Suite, full technology stack e.g., virtualised platforms, Windows Desktops and Servers, storage infrastructures, MSQL Server, Oracle databases and Linux and Windows operating systems.in large-scale network solutions.
- Proven track record of Staging, Configuration, Implementation and Developing network solutions, design documents, and artefacts to support IT and business projects.
- Proven experience in delivering network engineering services within a Government or mid-sized enterprise environment
- Capability and commitment to positively contribute to the work of a small IT team delivering business outcomes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical skills and sound, well-reasoned judgement.
