This is a great opportunity for a Competition Lawyer with 2-4 years' experience to join a genuinely global Competition/Antitrust practice in Sydney, working on complex regulatory, merger control and enforcement matters with a heavy cross-border focus.
The team advises domestic and international clients on complex mergers and joint ventures, including merger analysis and coordinated clearance filings across Australia, APAC and other key jurisdictions where strategy and timetables run in parallel.
The practice also handles investigations and enforcement work, competition and consumer law advisory, and risk management spanning cartel conduct, misuse of market power, anti-competitive arrangements, concerted practices, misleading or deceptive conduct, unconscionable conduct and broader consumer protection. Matters regularly touch foreign investment clearance, with cross-border coordination being central to how the work is run rather than an occasional add-on.
The local team operates in a small, partner-led structure, so you'll be close to the decision-making from the outset. Early responsibility is practical and hands-on: drafting and settling sections of merger submissions and clearance filings, preparing engagement packs and correspondence for the ACCC, running first-cut on advices, and taking ownership of discrete workstreams within investigations (including evidence mapping, chronology building and response drafting) while partners stay closely involved in overall strategy and client direction.
You'll suit this role if you bring strong technical foundations in competition and consumer law, sound judgment, and the ability to work calmly across multiple matters, along with a collaborative style and a professional presence in a close-knit team.
