The Chance
Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager – Engineering & Product Development is a senior leadership role accountable for driving design management, product innovation, and intellectual property strategy. This role will lead the development of the company’s tank systems, manage design processes that integrate advanced water technologies, and provide technical leadership to support project delivery. The position also carries responsibility for safeguarding the company’s intellectual property portfolio and ensuring engineering systems align with Australian and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product development initiatives to expand and improve the company’s tank range.
- Develop and implement design management systems that enable system integration in water technologies.
- Manage consultants, technology vendors, and patent attorneys to secure and protect IP (patents & trademarks).
- Provide engineering leadership to projects across design, constructability, and technical problem-solving.
- Oversee preparation, review, and approval of technical drawings, specifications, and quality documents.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and high performance.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering design or product development management; 10+ years desirable.
- Proven success in design management and system integration, ideally in water infrastructure or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience in product innovation and intellectual property management.
- Knowledge of Australian Standards and exposure to international codes (USA/Canada).
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards registration highly regarded.
- Exposure to post-tensioned tank systems or large-scale civil/structural projects advantageous.
