Overview
An opportunity is open for an animator to collaborate on a unique personal project inspired by ancient Japan. The focus is to capture the essence of classic Japanese samurai anime, blending traditional manga-style art with modern 3D and digital tools. The role requires someone who can create sketch animations, establish immersive flow, and help shape an original animated world. This project will be remote, with a two-month timeline for initial delivery and strong potential for long-term or ongoing collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop sketch animations that emulate the rhythm and visual style of classic samurai anime
- Translate concepts and references into dynamic animated sequences
- Collaborate to define the visual direction of the project, ensuring authenticity to Japanese anime aesthetics
- Integrate animation work within Maya and Unreal Engine pipelines
- Experiment with camera movement, timing, and scene transitions to enhance storytelling
- Provide deliverables suitable for further integration into Unity-based environments
- Participate in ongoing feedback and iteration cycles to refine animation quality
Skills and Requirements
- Strong background in animation with proven ability to replicate manga and anime-inspired styles
- Proficiency in Maya, Unreal Engine, and digital illustration tools
- Experience in sketch animation and pre-visualization workflows
- Understanding of anime timing, pacing, and stylized motion
- Strong artistic sensibility with the ability to merge 2D manga influences into 3D environments
- Familiarity with Unity integration is a plus
- Ability to work independently, remotely, and manage deliverables within deadlines
- Availability to commit to an initial 2-month project timeline, with flexibility for follow-up work
